Dear Moviegoers,

For those of you waiting patiently ,the much anticipated THE VISITOR (M) is now showing. Sixty-two-year-old Walter Vale (Jenkins) is sleepwalking through his life.
Having lost his passion for teaching and writing, he fills the void by unsuccessfully trying to learn to play classical piano.
When his college sends him to Manhattan to attend a conference, Walter is surprised to find a young couple has taken up residence in his apartment.
Victims of a real estate scam, Tarek, a Syrian man, and Zainab, his Senegalese girlfriend, have nowhere else to go.
In the first of a series of tests of the heart, Walter reluctantly allows the couple to stay with him.

School holidays are well underway and there is much to offer the kids and mums anddads alike! The brand new Disney Pixar feature WALL - E /G\ is getting rave reviews from both the Press and moviegoers, this is one special movie for the whole family to enjoy together.

Another fun family film is now showing BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA [PG]. Chloe (voice of Drew Barrymore) is a pampered Chihuahua from Beverly Hills who spends most of her time riding around in her owner's purse.
When she gets accidentally separated from her "mobile home" on a trip to Mexico, she must rely on the help and kindness of strangers to find her way back; these include a hyper-romantic male Chihuahua named Papi and a mystical "spirit guide" (voice of Salma Hayek) who brings Chloe in touch with her doggy heritage.

As with all holiday films, bookings, whether by phone or online , are strongly recommended, so be sure to do so early to avoid disappointment on arrival.

Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes star in THE DUCHESS (M) also commencing this week. The scandalous rise and fall of the Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire.
Like Princess Diana, her direct descendent, she was beautiful, glamorous and adored by the public.Keira Knightley stars as the 18th century aristocrat Georgiana, duchess of Devonshire.
An ancestor of Princess Di, she lived an extravagant, profligate and promiscuous life of political and romantic intrigue, becoming an important powerbroker amid Britain's ruling elite but also running up catastrophic gambling debts. She was alternately feted and reviled, and widely caricatured by the popular press.

THE BANK JOB (MA) is still screening, and highly recommended.
Inspired by a real-life 1971 London bank robbery that was never solved.
A band of thieves tunneled their way into a safe deposit vault, taking millions of dollars in cash and jewelry.
The robbery made headlines for several days, but then all reporting stopped as a result of a government gag order.

For those who prefer a little less action, and a touch more heart, comedy and romance, then we offer you AND WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER (M), starringColin Firth and Jim Broadbent, and HOW ABOUT YOU? (M), with Vanessa Redgrave,Imelda Staunton and Brenda Fricker.

Just a note, for those moviegoers who enjoy our selection of art/foreign/subtitled films, please be sure to catch the film in the first week or two, as most titles are unlikely to sustain longer seasons.

MAMMA MIA is still showing and if you haven't already experienced this colourful, hilarious and most importantly fun film, well, you are in the minority!!
We have had some record attendances for this film and we do ask you book well ahead to ensure good seats as many sessions are heavily booked.

HOW ABOUT YOU

FROM THE PRODUCERS OF "MY LEFT FOOT" AND "MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE". FEATURING MUSIC BY NAT KING COLE, ELLA FITZGERALD AND BOBBY DARIN "How About You", adapted from a short story by author Maeve Binchy and featuring a stellar cast, tells the story of Ellie (Hayley Atwell), a carefree young woman who is left in charge of a residential home in the beautiful Irish countryside owned and run by her older sister Kate (Orla Brady). Kate is the sensible one, while Ellie is impetuous. It's Christmas time, and most of the residents of the home have left to spend the festive period with their families. Remaining at the home are four grumpy old residents known as "the hardcore": retired screen beauty Georgia (Vanessa Redgrave), spinster sisters Hazel (Imelda Staunton) and Heather (Brenda Fricker), and a retired High Court judge, Donald (Joss Ackland). It's a baptism of fire for Ellie whose youth and inexperience bring her head to head with the cantankerous foursome. They are impossible to deal with - trouble-making, cranky but often very funny. Ellie appears to be no match for them. However when the going gets tough she takes them on. And what's more, an officious local area health inspector is about to pay a visit for a full inspection! "How About You" wonderfully paints the hilarious antics of these uncivilised seniors and the gradual solidarity between them and Ellie as they finally recognise kindred spirits in each other. Ellie succeeds in beating them at their own game and manages to show them the error of their ways. As well as changing them, she also realises that "the hardcore" have changed her too in quite an unexpected way.

THE DUCHESS

While her beauty and charisma made her name, Georgiana Spencer’s extravagant tastes and appetite for gambling and love made her infamous. Married young to the older, distant Duke of Devonshire, intimate of ministers and princes, Georgiana became a fashion icon, a doting mother, a shrewd political operator and darling of the common people. But at the core of her story is a desperate search for love. From Georgiana's passionate and doomed affair with Earl Grey to the complex ménage à trois with her husband and her best friend, Lady Bess Foster, The Duchess is a very contemporary tale of fame, notoriety and the search for love.

NIGHTS IN RODANTHE

In the romantic drama 'Nights in Rodanthe,' based on the Nicholas Sparks best-selling novel, Diane Lane stars as Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos, who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend?s inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her -- a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives. -

WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER

And When Did You Last See Your Father? is from Blake Morrison's moving and candid memoir of his father in the weeks leading up to his death. When Arthur Morrison was diagnosed with terminal cancer he had only a few weeks left to live. Morrison travelled to Yorkshire to stay with his mother in the village where he grew up. He visited his father at the hospital where he had spent so much time with his own patients as a GP. As his father's condition worsened Morrison contemplated their shared experiences, the intimacies and the irritations of their relationship. After his father's death Morrison questions the nature of the bond between them, articulately expressing the contradictions, frustrations, love and loss bound into the complicated relationships which most of us have with our parents as we grow up.

BRIDESHEAD REVISITED

Brideshead Revisited, the epic novel of life, death and spiritual renewal among the English Catholic gentry is widely described as Evelyn Waugh's greatest work. Whilst at Oxford University a chance encounter with the charming and decadent Sebastian Flyte, son of Lord Marchmain, draws Charles Ryder into the exclusive world of British high society.

THE WOMEN

"The Women" is about friends and mothers and daughters. It's about breaking up and finding your way back. It's about reinventing yourself. It's about walking through fire for what you believe in. It's about Women. Diane English, the creator of "Murphy Brown", has gathered an exceptional cast for the remake of George Cukor's 1939 classic. Her script maintains the arch spirit of the original, and the all-female cast, but the women aren't as relentlessly catty this time around. The story follows a group of female friends when the one they envied most discovers her husband is cheating on her. Starring Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, Candice Bergen, Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher.
